Terminator Salvation…?

I have never been a fan of the whole Terminator series even when i was a kid. I just was not attracted to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s acting in those movies. Even the whole plot of the series did not catch my attention what so ever. Now that this whole new Terminator is coming out, i am pretty excited especially since Christian Bale is in it and the CGI just looks amazing. However, after looking at sites such as ‘Rotten Tomatoes’ i really do not know what to expect from this film since it got a lot of poor reviews. I also asked my peers and they gave me the same feed back, “it was not that great”. So much for the hype…

Angels & Demons

The recent film of Angels & Demons directed by Ron Howard is based on the novel by Dan Brown. The movie is about a Harvard symbologist who helps the Vatican work agaisnt the upcoming terrotist attack by the Illuminati, an enemy of the church. In my opinion, I believe that this movie was great, it was definitely better than the first film “The Da Vinci Code”. I believe this film would spark a lot of public opinion, especially towards the church, this is why the film has been banned in a lot of places but lucky has been showing in the cinemas here. I highly reccommend this film for anyone out there.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Just a few weeks ago I watched the movie X-Men origins. The movie was just mediocre with odd graphics. However, one thing that caught my attention was the opening sequence of the movie. I would post the sequence however I fail to find it online. The opening sequence shows how Wolverine progresses through the present time. It starts of during the 1900 showing how he was involved with the american independence, WW1 and WWII. The shots are failry black and white with little color and show a bit of slow motion during most of the action shots. I believe this was a great way to shoot an opening scene for a movie, especially this one.

Re-Engineering a shot

For Echo, Joaquin and I wanted to shoot a shot just like when the Comedian’s bright red blood falls onto his trademark yellow happy-face pin in the Watchmen scene if you have seen it. But we come to a conclusion that it was impossible to do thanks for clarifying Mr. Oomens. But this is definitely a shot we would like to do in the future.

In Bruges

In Bruges, directed by Martin Macdonagh is about two hitmen hiding out in the Belgian city of Bruges, and amidst the city’s storybook background they come to terms with issues of guilt, morality, and redemption. In my opinion this movie was outstanding. However, some people fail to realize the beauty of this film. The one thing I enjoyed most about this film was the story line. The plot just stood out from any other and a hint of comedy was just great. The actors involved with it were Colin Farrell and Ralph Fiennes. I would definitely recommend this film to everyone.

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen

This 2009, another film I cannot wait to watch is the second Transformers movie directed by Michael Bay. Ever since I was a kid, I have always loved the old Transformers cartoon. Now that the first movie was released I was hooked again. I have to say the the cinematography and CGI of the first one was absolutely amazing and I am sure that the sequel will offer an even better effects. There are a lot of good films coming out this year an I am hoping that this film has a lot to offer so that it may please the viewers just as they did in the first film.

Inglorious Bastards

I stumbled upon this trailer while watching the premiere of Watchmen. The movie entitled “Inglorious Bastards” is one of Quentin Tarantino’s newest films which comes out in a couple of months. The movie revolves around a couple of Jewish-American soldier who call themselves “The Bastards” are chosen specifically to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. Once I saw the trailer i was immediately hooked, and definitely couldn’t wait to watch it. I was always a big fan of Tarantino’s films so I am hoping this one will be as good as his previous films he has made.

The Art of Collaboration

In the past weeks i have learnt that making a film is not as easy as it look. You definitely do not work alone, instead you work in groups. It is vital for each memeber to know his role in the group so that many things may be accomplished. Without team work, small details may be left out and will reuslt in a lesser finished product. Knowing each others individual roles and communicating within each film crew will result in great sucess. Finally, i believe that learning to incorporate each others ideas into one instead of arguing is how you get the best results in the end.

THE OSCARS!

The oscars are coming up soon, and i ahve bene tasked with writing down who i think will win this year. Heath Ledger, is in the running post humerus, and i think that he is the overall favorite for winning the award. Dead or not, he was an amazing joker. For best pitcure, i think that i should follow the trend of the Golden Globes and pick ‘Slumdog Millionaire” as a winner. i think that the best male lead should go to Brad Pitt for Benjamin Button, because i think that makeup or not, he was amazing as well and brought real depth to the character. For best female lead i think that Angelina Jolie should win for her role in the ‘Changeling’ a stunning movie even though i wasn’t suposed to watch it (R18) . so that’s who i think is going to win, good luck to the nominees!

Oscars

I believe best male actor for the oscar nominations will be Health Ledger, this is because of the role he played as The Joker in The Dark Night.
For cinematography i believe the film of Slumdog Millionare should be nominated because it gave a different feel of the 3rd world country of India. It used various shot techniques to emphasize the films over all theme.
I believe best picture of ’08 would go to Slumdog Millionare, this is because it was very different from other films and it stood out in my opinion. It was different from other films of ’08 because it focued a lot on the real world of being in a 3rd world country.
